11 Arrested for Violent Thuggery Attack in Medile Quarters

The Kano State Police Command has arrested 11 suspects in connection with a violent thuggery incident that rocked the Medile Quarters area on the night of May 26, 2025.

According to a statement released by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the suspects armed with dangerous weapons launched an attack at approximately 10:00 p.m., injuring innocent residents and robbing them of their belongings.

Prompt response from the police led to the apprehension of the suspects, who are currently undergoing investigation. The Command confirmed that the individuals will be charged to court upon the completion of investigations.

Those arrested include: 21-year-old Aliyu Ibrahim, 18-year-old Abubakar Ya’u, 19-year-old Ibrahim Kaulayi, 18-year-old Ibrahim Murtala a.k.a. Mai Rakuma, 27-year-old Abba Musa a.k.a. Giza Gizo, 19-year-old Muhammad Dawud a.k.a. Dan Besse, 38-year-old Abdullahi Ibrahim a.k.a. Tsoho Me Nama, 22-year-old Jibril Abubakar a.k.a. Abasu Kala, 20-year-old Salim Musa, 20-year-old Zaharaddin Ismail a.k.a. Gwan Gwan, and 44-year-old Abubakar Hassan a.k.a. Meguda Dan Ta.

Commissioner of Police, CP Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, reaffirmed the Command’s zero tolerance for thuggery and other forms of criminality. He emphasized that anyone found guilty of such acts will be prosecuted to the full extent of the law.

The Commissioner also urged residents to remain vigilant and continue supporting the police by reporting suspicious activities.

“The Kano State Police Command remains fully committed to ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state,” CP Bakori stated.

The Command expressed appreciation for the public’s cooperation and assured that justice will be served in line with the rule of law.
