The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command has launched a full-scale investigation following the circulation of a viral video showing an unconscious young woman found with her hands tied behind her in a hotel room located in the Gwarinpa area of Abuja.

The woman, identified as Aladi Offikwu Johnson, also known as Tessy, hailed from Benue State. Preliminary police findings revealed she checked into the hotel on 3rd Avenue, Gwarinpa, on June 16, 2025, accompanied by an unidentified male. CCTV footage and hotel records reportedly show that the man later exited the premises alone, leaving the woman behind.
According to FCT Police Spokesperson, SP Josephine Adeh, hotel staff discovered Tessy unconscious during routine rounds and immediately alerted the authorities. She was confirmed dead upon medical evaluation.
In response to the tragic discovery, the Commissioner of Police for the FCT, CP Ajao S. Adewale, psc, mnips, ordered a “thorough and discreet investigation” into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

“The Command is treating this case with the utmost urgency and seriousness,” CP Adewale stated. “We are determined to uncover the truth and bring the perpetrator(s) to justice.”
While investigations are ongoing, the Police are calling on the public to remain calm and cooperate with law enforcement.
The Commissioner also issued a caution to young women, urging them to remain vigilant in their interactions with unfamiliar individuals and to share their movements with trusted friends or family members.
Additionally, hotel operators have been advised to improve internal security protocols, including mandatory guest identification and functional surveillance systems.
The FCT Police Command expressed its condolences to the family of the deceased and assured the public that every effort is being made to resolve the case.
Further developments will be communicated as the investigation progresses.
