The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has announced a significant increase in the cost of acquiring the Nigerian international passport, with the new rates set to take effect from September 1, 2025.

According to a statement signed by the Service Public Relations Officer, AS Akinlabi, the revised fees will see a 32-page passport with 5-year validity now cost ₦100,000, while the 64-page passport with 10-year validity will be issued at ₦200,000.

However, the statement clarified that application fees for Nigerians in the diaspora remain unchanged. Nigerians abroad will continue to pay $150 for the 32-page, 5-year validity passport, and $230 for the 64-page passport with 10-year validity.

The NIS noted that the price adjustment is part of ongoing efforts to improve service delivery and enhance the quality of travel documents, while still striving to make passport services accessible to all Nigerians.

“The Service reiterates its commitment to balancing quality service delivery with the need to ensure passport services are accessible to all Nigerians,” the statement read.
