Chuks Omesie Dedicates Son as Governor Otti Reaffirms Commitment to Free Education
The Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has reiterated his administration’s commitment to free and compulsory education, zero tolerance for discrimination, and policies aimed at uplifting ordinary citizens, during a child dedication ceremony held at the Assemblies of God Church, 55 Bende Road, Umuahia.

Represented by Prince Okey Kanu, the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Culture, on Sunday, Governor Otti made these remarks at the dedication of Master Joshua Chisom Chukwuma, son of Mr and Mrs Chukwuma Omesie (popularly known as Chuks Digit).
Delivering the Governor’s message, Prince Kanu emphasised that every policy of the current administration is people-centred and designed to restore dignity and hope to all residents of Abia State, regardless of their background.
“Education remains the strongest weapon to secure the future of our children,” Governor Otti stated. “Any school-aged child found outside the classroom during school hours will face sanctions, as will their parents. We are serious about building a better future for Ndi Abia.”
He further called on faith-based institutions to continue praying for the government’s success and to partner in promoting values that strengthen the family and society. The Governor also advised Mr and Mrs Omesie to raise their son in the fear of God and ensure he benefits from the revitalised public education system in the state.
The service, officiated by Rev. Ephraim Ugboaja of the Assemblies of God Church, Ugba Na Nkata, was described as spirit-filled and impactful. The cleric praised Governor Otti as a “religiously and socially accepted leader,” commending his ongoing reforms which, he said, have restored hope to countless families across Abia State.
In his vote of thanks, Mr Omesie expressed deep appreciation to the Governor for honouring his family with representation at the event, urging him to remain focused and undistracted as he steers the state toward meaningful development.
The occasion was attended by dignitaries, including the Mayor of Umuahia North LGA, Mr Smart Iheoma, renowned legal practitioner Ken Ahia (SAN), and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour and Productivity, among others.
