Former Abia Councillors Endorse Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso for Bende Seat, Back Alex Chioma Otti for 2027 Re-Election
Businessman philanthropist, founder Otti Again 2027 movement, Dr. Chimaobi Desmond Anyaso, has emerged as the consensus choice of former elected councillors in Abia State for the Bende Federal Constituency seat ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was announced in Igbere, Bende Local Government Area, where the former councillors paid a solidarity visit to Anyaso, popularly known as “Ofuji.” The group also threw its weight behind the re-election bid of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti.
Speaking on behalf of the group, its state coordinator, Hon. Tony Agbayim, said the decision to support Anyaso was based on his long-standing record of philanthropy and grassroots empowerment, despite not having held public office.
According to him, the former councillors many of whom served between 1999 and 2002 were convinced that Anyaso would deliver more impactful representation if elected into the National Assembly.
“We are fully committed to your aspiration. We will mobilise and ensure your victory in the 2027 election,” Agbayim said.
The group also commended Governor Otti for what it described as transformational leadership, noting that his administration has restored confidence in governance and accelerated development across the state.
They pledged to galvanize support for both Anyaso and Otti, vowing to work towards delivering electoral victories for them in 2027.
Responding, Anyaso expressed gratitude for the endorsement, describing it as a call to greater service. He praised Governor Otti’s leadership, noting that the administration has ushered in a new era of hope and infrastructural progress in Abia State.
He also acknowledged the governor’s efforts in settling outstanding arrears owed to former councillors, a development he said brought relief to many who had endured years of neglect.
Anyaso apologized on behalf of past administrations for the hardship faced by some councillors, including those who reportedly died while awaiting their entitlements.
He urged continued support for Governor Otti to sustain ongoing reforms, adding that the pace of development witnessed in the state within a short period was unprecedented since its creation in 1991.
“Our state needs leaders of integrity. It is important that credible individuals are entrusted with public office to truly represent the people,” he said.
Anyaso formally declared his intention to contest the Bende Federal Constituency seat in 2027, stating that he is prepared to serve and represent the interests of his people at the National Assembly.
He also called for unity among pro-government political groups, including those advocating for the governor’s re-election, to ensure a coordinated effort ahead of the polls.
The motion adopting Anyaso as the consensus candidate was moved by Hon. Godwin Uchenna Ndom and seconded by Hon. Prince Kanu, and was unanimously approved by members of the group.
The councillors equally reaffirmed their support for Governor Otti as their sole candidate for the 2027 election.
