The Member representing Arochukwu/Ohafia Federal Constituency, Hon Ibe Okwara Osonwa, has empowered Constituents with over N2 billion empowerment tools including a payloader truck and a grader, a feat he mentioned has never been done before in the history of empowerment in the state.

Speaking on Thursday, 2nd of April 2026 at the Empowerment and Poverty Alleviation Programme held at Ohafia Primary LGA Secretariat, Ebem Ohafia, Abia State, he stated that he intends that the empowerment tools will help in providing for families. He urged the people to utilise the empowerment tools to help themselves. He stated that adding the graders and payloader was to help in the maintenance of roads within the Constituency.

“My interest is in education but I’ve also realised that empowering a family with a tool will help the family fend for itself.”

He assured the people that more initiatives are on the way and reiterated his commitment to delivering people-oriented representation at the Green Chamber.

Representing the Governor, Dr Alex Otti, the Deputy Governor, Chief Ikechukwu Emetu, expressed his commitment to the empowerment of the people and commended Hon Ibe Okwara Osonwa for the empowerment, describing it as a thoughtful initiative.

“This programme is deliberately designed to empower individuals to become creators of labour and to lead themselves out of poverty. It is part of Governor Alex Otti’s mandate to ensure that Abians are lifted from the poverty index,” he said. He urged the beneficiaries to utilise the tools to benefit themselves and their families.

Present at the event was Honourable Ginger Onwusibe, representing Isiala Ngwa North and South Federal Constituency; Hon.
