Police Raid Black Spot, Arrest Eight Suspected Cultists
The Anambra State Police Command has intensified its crackdown on criminal activities with a successful raid on a notorious black spot in Eze-Allah, Enugwu-Ukwu, in Njikoka Local Government Area.

The operation, carried out on the evening of April 16, 2026, was led by operatives attached to the Special Anti-Cult Unit in Enugwu-Ukwu, following credible intelligence. During the raid, eight male suspects allegedly linked to cult-related activities were arrested.
Police also recovered various quantities of suspected cannabis sativa and other illicit drugs from the scene, reinforcing concerns about the role of substance abuse in fueling crime among youth groups.
The suspects have been identified as Chidalu Nwafor (27), Chiemerie Nwazueje (24), Chima Arwuike (25), Jideobi Emeka (26), Oliver Okonkwo (18), Izuchukwu Christian (18), Onyebuchi (21), and Walter Idouzour (44).
According to the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the suspects are currently undergoing profiling and investigation. He added that they will be charged in court upon the conclusion of the process.
The Command emphasised that the prevalence of illicit drug use remains a major driver of criminal activities, particularly among groups involved in cultism. It called for continued collaboration between law enforcement and local communities to combat the menace.
