The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Muhammad has come under attack for saying that the Sharia Law should be taught in Arabic in Universities. His West African Examination Result has surfaced in which he didn’t make a credit in the Arabic language that he is pushing to be used in schools.

Professor Farooq Kperogi has said that the content if the course should be more important than the language in which its taught.
He also stated that the CJN was appointed illegally and that English remains Nigeria’s official language.

Justice Tanko Muhammad, the illegally appointed CJN, was reported to have said that Sharia Law should be taught in Arabic in our universities. But the man himself didn’t even get a credit in Arabic in his WASC but went ahead to study Sharia Law. He also had no credit in English.

Isn’t the content of the course more important than the language in which it is taught? How many people in Nigeria get credit in Arabic anyway? In any case, English is Nigeria’s official language. Well, what do you expect from a lawyer who doesn’t know what a “technicality” means?
