The European Union has given the Federal Government of Nigeria a grant of €50 million for it’s fight against the outbreak of Coronavirus in the country.
This was made known by the European Ambassador to Nigeria Ketil Karlsen to President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday in a closed door meeting at the State house in Abuja.
President Buhari’s personal assistant on New media Bashir Ahmed disclosed this through a series of tweets and made it known that it was their contribution to Nigeria on the fight against Coronavirus.
The tweet further stated that this was largest support from the European Union to any country so far.
“JUST IN: The European Union (EU) has donated a grant of €50 million to the Federal Government, their contribution to Nigeria’s fight against #COVID19, the Head of EU delegation, Amb. Ketil Karlsen announces the donation at a meeting with President @MBuhari today in Abuja.
The European Union’s €50 million (N21bn) donation to Nigeria is the largest support the Union has so far given to any country outside Europe, the @EUinNigeria’s Amb. Ketil Karlsen discloses this at a meeting with President @MBuhari this afternoon, at the State House, Abuja.”
Recall that in an address by the President on Monday, he disclosed that the country will do all necessary things to curb the spread of the virus in the country.
