The Central Bank of Nigeria has imposed an N7.00 charge for every USSD transaction made from a mobile telephone in Nigeria.
The transaction which has been free for years will now be charged following the refusal of banks to remit the agreed amount which they said was expensive and alleged to be over N42 billion in debt by banks.
The N7.00 was agreed upon following the disagreement between banks and telecom over USSD and other text message transaction requests.
