Sir Oko Chukwu Meets Ikwuano, Umuahia North And South Delegates, Solicit Support

By Charles Ogbonnaya

The delegates for the forthcoming PDP governorship primary election have been reminded that the future of the state and how it will look solely lies in their hands.

The Abia State Deputy Governor and frontline governorship aspirant, Sir Ude Oko Chukwu who made this known during a consultation visit to Ikwuano, Umuahia North and South L.G.As respectively, encouraged the delegates to be more concerned about what would play out during the party primaries as, “Primary election is a serious business which required casting their votes to an aspirant with sincere commitment to serve”.

Oko Chukwu said, “Based on my experience over the years, for anybody to occupy an elective position, that person must first emerge from his political party. With the position of the constitution of the Republic of Nigeria as amended, there is no provision for independent candidates in this country. That’s to say that only those nominated by their political parties will stand as the party’s candidate and go for the election and can be governor of the state. And who will do the nomination if not the delegates and that’s the reason I decided to see the delegates of our great party and with humility, I have come to solicit your support”.

Sir Oko Chukwu who also observed the critical roles played by the party stakeholders and their capacity to influence the delegates, expressed serious conviction that he knows the business of governance, having served in other elective positions and performed excellently well in other assignments given to him.

He said, ” I feel psychologically, socially and physically convinced that I have the capacity to pilot the affairs of our dear State if given the opportunity.”

He advised the delegates to be careful in choosing who leads them and as such should carefully cast their votes for people they know, as it is a sacred duty God has placed on them. So they should carry it out with the sincerity of the heart.

In their respective speeches, Barr. Ikechukwu Okeugo, Mr. Christmas Nkume, Admiral Ralph Osondu (rtd) for Ikwuano L.G.A; Chief Charles Ogbonnaya, Deacon Okey Onyemauwa, the Chairman of ward chairmen, Hon. Chisom Nwokeoji for Umuahia North L.G.A; and Pastor Emeka Inyama, Chief Ako Atuloma and Elder Neighbor Onwukaike for Umuahia South L.G.A, appreciated the experience garnered over the years by Sir Ude Oko Chukwu and assured to do the needful at the appropriate time even as they prayed God to grant him all he aspired to achieve.
