Troops of the Nigerian Army (NA) neutralized two terrorists and rescued two villagers held hostage by insurgents in Damba Dikko village, a community in Illela Local Government Area of Sokoto State, North West Nigeria.
According to Major-General Onyema Nwachukwu, the Director of Army Public Relations, the troops were responding to a distress call on Wednesday from the villagers and subsequently took the injured villagers to the hospital for medical care.
Similarly, troops rescued four kidnapped victims, a female and three men, abducted by notorious gangs of kidnappers in Edo State.
The victims were taken into the Ososo forest in Akoko Edo Local Government Area of the State but were tracked and intercepted by the troops, who engaged the criminals in a firefight and extricated the abductees.
The troops apprehended one of the kidnappers, who is currently undergoing preliminary investigation and will be subsequently handed over to the appropriate prosecuting agency.
Meanwhile, one of the rescued victims who suffered from shock and fatigue has been evacuated to a medical facility, where he is receiving treatment, while others have been handed over to their families.
