Abia State Governor Dr Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, has declared that the state has zero tolerance for kidnapping and banditry, emphasizing that security agencies are committed to ensuring the safety of the lives and properties of its residents.
During a media chat with journalists titled “Governor Alex Otti Speaks to Abians,” held on Wednesday at the Banquet Hall of the Government House in Umuahia, he urged Abians to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate security agencies.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility. Abians should not tolerate any level of insecurity. Whenever you see something, say something. Our state has launched Operation Crush, which emphasizes the importance of being vigilant. We are very intolerant of kidnapping and banditry. All the investments we are making will be in vain if we cannot sleep with our eyes closed,” he stated.
Moreover, Governor Otti highlighted that agricultural development in the state has taken a new direction, as Abia has partnered with Israeli firms on greenhouse farming to enhance agricultural production and contribute to national food security.
Regarding pensions, Governor Otti mentioned that he has reached out to the National Chairman of Pensioners, who informed him that the association is in the process of electing new leaders and appealed for patience during this transition. He assured me that his promise to review the contract between the State and Pensioners is still intact.
