Abia Tertiary Institutions Release Schedule for ‘Torch of Peace and Unity’ Movement Across Campuses
The Abia Tertiary Institutions Games Movement has released the official schedule for the movement of the Torch of Peace and Unity, set to tour tertiary institutions across the state from November 13 to 22, 2025.
According to the schedule signed by the Chairman of the Technical Sub-Committee, Obioma George, the symbolic torch will visit universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and nursing schools across Abia State in a bid to promote harmony, sportsmanship, and inter-institutional collaboration among students.
The tour will commence on Thursday, November 13, 2025, at Nigeria British University, Asa (Ukwa West) by 10 a.m., before proceeding to College of Nursing Sciences, Obohia (Ukwa East) at 12 p.m., and Rhema University, Aba at 2 p.m.
On Friday, November 14, the torch will visit Clifford University, Ihie (10 a.m.), Ogbonna Onu Polytechnic, Aba (12 p.m.), and St. Anthony’s School of Nursing Science, Aba (2 p.m.). The movement continues through November 15 with stops at College of Health Technology, Madona Isi-Court, Umuahia (10 a.m.), WAGGOM Theological Institute, Aba (12 p.m.), and Archbishop Charles Henry Institution, Aba (2 p.m.).
Subsequent visits include Gregory University, Uturu (9 a.m.), and Abia State University, Uturu (10:30 a.m.) on November 18; Abia State College of Education, Arochukwu (9 a.m.) on November 19; and Spiritan University, Umunneochi (9 a.m.), as well as Federal Polytechnic, Isuochi (10:30 a.m.) on November 20.
The final phase will take place from November 21 to 22, with visits to Amadeus University, Ikwuano (9 a.m.), Michael Okpara University of Agriculture, Umudike (10:30 a.m.), Federal College of Education, Ofeme (9 a.m.), and ABSCONS, Amachara (10:30 a.m.).
Organisers say the initiative aims to foster peace, unity, and youth engagement through sports and cultural exchange within the Abia tertiary education community.
