Reacting to Twitter suspension in Nigeria, former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode said that the federal government plans to close down social media in Nigeria.

Speaking on his official Twitter page on Saturday, he said he was reliably informed that that was the intention of the Federal Government.

He wrote,
“I have been reliably informed that it is the intention of the FG to eventually close down social media completely in Nigeria. Until that time comes they intend to make it a criminal offence to use social media without NBC approval or registration.
Nigeria is now a police state!”
The Federal Government has suspended the operation of Twitter in Nigeria following its deleting of the threat of President Muhammadu Buhari to the South-East part of Nigeria.
