The Coalition of Civil Society Groups is protesting over the unavailability of new Naira notes accusing the Bank officials of sabotaging, hoarding, and selling the new naira notes in Lagos State on Thursday morning.

With placards written “Enough is Enough” “EFCC arrest bank officials hoarding new naira notes” “we support new naira notes redesign” and “CBN sanction defaulting banks now,” the protesters moved from bank to bank expressing their displeasure.
Speaking, the leader of the group stated that the new Naira notes are unavailable at the Automated Teller Machines, ATMs, and banks which has caused a lot of hardship for Nigerians.
“We have gone to the bank and cannot access these new Naira notes. We are aware that the Central Bank of Nigeria has made available the new Naira notes to banks. This is why Civil Society leaders have taken it upon themselves to curb the menace and question why they are deliberately inflicting pain on Nigerians.”
Meanwhile the governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele directed all banks to pay the new Naira Notes over the counter against the earlier directive of paying only through the Automated Teller Machines.
