2023 Election: Elements Fighting Against APC Victory – El-Rufai

Governor of Kaduna State Nasir El-Rufai has accused ‘some elements’ in the Aso Rock villa of sabotaging the victory of the ruling All Progressive Congress through its economic policies that are causing more hardship for Nigerians.

“I believe that there are people in the Villa who want to ruin this election. They had their candidates who lost the ticket and they don’t want our party to win.”

Speaking on Channels TV on the program Sunrise Daily stated vehemently that the scarce Naira Redesign policy is causing more economic woes for people, particularly farmers in rural areas.

“Nigerians should know that these policies are not policies of our party but some economists who are bent on making sure that we lose the election. Policies purposely designed to crash the political process.”

“In the North, there are local governments bigger than Anambra State and they have only one bank situated there. How are these farmers going to change their money?

Some farmers met me after one of our campaign trials while appreciating me on the agricultural policies and asked why we were trying to kill them even after helping them.”

The former FCT Minister who took a swipe at some Presidential candidates calling them a joke revealed posterity will judge their achievement in office.

“I don’t think much of what we have achieved, what we did not & what people will think of our administration, we leave that to posterity and history.”

Defending the age of APC presidential candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, he stated that due to the complexity of the country,  a 40 or 50-year-old does not have the requisite knowledge to manage the country.

“Instinctively, I will like to see younger people at levels of leadership…but the reality of Nigeria is that the younger person must also have varied experiences that will enable him to hold the country together. It’s a complex society that requests experience and tracks records of performance which a 50-year-old cannot have or convince the political party or general public that he has. I consider the septuagenarian that is running for office now as a transitional leader.

“When Asiwaju Bola Tinubu wins, you will see quite a whole lot of youths because he believes himself to be a transitional leader. He will fix them in his governments that will arise a new generation of leaders. It will be difficult for a 40 or 50-year-old to convince Nigerians that he knows to manage our complexity. And  some of the candidates are a joke as far as I’m concerned and every joke looks funny from a distance.”
