Police Arrest Woman Who Defrauds Single Ladies with ‘Marriage Promises’

A 35-year-old woman identified as Mrs. Akunna Roseline Udom has been arrested by the operatives of the Anambra Police Command for allegedly defrauding ladies to the tune of N5 million, conspiracy, advance fee fraud, and stealing,

Mrs. Udom who was arrested on Monday 20th February 2023, is a leader of a three-man syndicate that specializes in defrauding young single ladies by promising them marriage to her brother who resides over the seas.
The mother of five also tells her victims of possessing spiritual powers that double any amount given to her.
Meanwhile, Rose who joined the notorious gang about a year ago has defrauded more than 5 single ladies of N9m. While some of her syndicate members are at large.
The statement by the PPRO DSP Ikenga Tochukwu reads, ‘Mrs Roseline is a member of a notorious gang of 3-man, who specialise in defrauding members of the public. While some of her syndicate members are still at large, she confessed that her victims are mainly single young ladies, who work in cooperate offices like banks, civil service and sales girls, assuring them that her brother who is based overseas is looking for a wife. She also tells her victims that she possesses the spiritual power of cleansing their afflictions and is capable of doubling any amount given to her by the victim. Mrs Rose a mother of five children, joined the gang early last year and since then has defrauded more than five young ladies of a total sum of Nine million and more.’
