The Presidential Election Tribunal Petition Court has adjourned its hearing till Wednesday, the 17th of May, 2023 on the petitions filed by Labour Party and its Presidential Candidate Peter Obi against the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, the All Progressive Congress, the President-Elect Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President-Elect Kashim Shettima.
The case which pre-hearing started on the 8th of May at the Court of Appeal in Abuja had the presence of Peter Obi and the absence of the principal respondents on Wednesday.
The lead counsel to Labour Party, Barrister Livy Uzoukwu (SAN) called for the adjournment of the case to allow all outstanding processes yet to be filed to be done so the court can start the hearing properly. He made it clear that the time will also allow all documents in contention to be agreed upon by all parties involved.
The lead counsel to the INEC, APC, Tinubu, and Shettima agreed to the motion and expressly stated that it needed Monday and Tuesday to file all responses.
Concluding, one of the Justices stated that streamlining all documents by the parties would hurry the court processes.
