Rivers Assembly Complex Demolished Weeks After Fire Outbreak
The Rivers State House of Assembly complex is currently undergoing demolition and renovation on Wednesday morning weeks after a side of the complex was burnt down.

Heavy machinery was seen demolishing the Assembly complex as Governor Fubara arrived at the Assembly to present the 2024 budget titled “Budget of Renewed Hope, Consolidation and Continuity.”
Meanwhile, the Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Edison Ehie is currently presiding over the plenary as a court order affirmed him as the legitimate speaker and prohibited his rival, Martins Amaewhule from claiming leadership.
The Speaker had also declared the 25 seats of defected members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, vacant and stated that the Assembly will communicate with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, for election to fill in the seat.
It also elected Hon. Adolphus Timothy Orubienimigha, the Member representing Opobo/Nkoro State Constituency, as Leader of the 10th Rivers State House of Assembly.
