Jonathan Blames Ghost Voters as Major Obstacle to Credible Election
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has stated that ghost voters are the main obstacle to the Nigerian electoral system and hinder accurate vote counting.
Former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has stated that ghost voters are the main obstacle to the Nigerian electoral system and hinder accurate vote counting.

Jonathan, who emphasized the need for credible and integrity-driven leadership within the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), stated that there is no headway for the system until officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, resign rather than succumb to the pressure of manipulating results.
Speaking at the YIAGA Africa Reflection Conference on Democratic Elections in West Africa, he also criticized the regionalization of the electoral process, noting that it has infiltrated all facets of the system, including religious groups.

The former President recalled the challenges faced during the 2023 general elections, including logistical issues, delayed voting, violence, and technical glitches despite the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System BVAS and the Results Viewing Portal by INEC to enhance transparency.
His comments comes as Nigerians clamour for Electoral Reforms that equips the people with the right to elect their leaders in a free and credible election.
