Police Arrest Two Armed Robbery Suspects, Recover Weapons

Two robbery suspects, 23-year-old Louis Joseph Thomas and 27-year-old Essien Friday Nelson, have been arrested by the Akwa Ibom State Police Command.

On March 20, 2025, at approximately 11:30 PM, the Command received a distress call from the Control Room reporting an ongoing armed robbery in Nung Udo Idem Ikot Okubo village.
In response, tactical teams were quickly mobilized to the scene, where the suspects were tracked to a hotel (name withheld). During the operation, police recovered dangerous weapons and stolen items in the Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government Area.


A thorough search yielded the following items: four locally made pistols, thirty-four live cartridges, one Moniepoint POS machine, two black face masks, two laptops, three Android phones, one button phone, one wristwatch, and one black long-sleeve Special Force polo shirt.
In a statement on Monday, the Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Timfon John, reported that the Commissioner of Police, CP Baba Mohammed Azare, commended the operatives for their swift response. He assured the public that efforts are ongoing to track down other fleeing gang members and recover additional weapons.
“The Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all residents and urges the public to continue providing timely and credible information that will aid in crime prevention.
