Akwa Ibom Commissioner Ememobong Resigns Over APC Membership Directive
Hon. Ini Ememobong, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Special Duties, as well as the overseer of the Ibom Deep Seaport project, has tendered his resignation.
Hon. Ini Ememobong, the Akwa Ibom State Commissioner for Information and Special Duties, as well as the overseer of the Ibom Deep Seaport project, has tendered his resignation.

This move follows a threat issued by Governor Pastor Umo Eno, urging all political appointees unwilling to align with the All Progressives Congress (APC) to vacate their positions.

In response, Ememobong submitted his resignation with immediate effect, signalling his decision not to comply with the governor’s party alignment demand.
Recall that Governor Umo Eno officially joined the APC on Friday in a ceremony in the State emphasising that he has completed his consultations. He also noted that his defection comes from his admiration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and his reforms in the country.
