NAFDAC Issues Public Alert on Recalled Multivitamin Supplements for Women
The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has issued Public Alert No. 023/2025 warning Nigerians about the recall of several multivitamin and iron supplements in the United States due to the risk of serious injury or death from poisoning, particularly in children.

The affected products, manufactured under the brand CINCINNATI (WKRC), were sold across major U.S. retail platforms such as Walmart, Amazon, and Target.
Approximately 60,000 units are involved in the recall, including Daily Prenatal Multi, Ultamins Women’s Multivitamin, and Ultamins Women’s 50+ Multivitamin, all under the iHerb/California Gold Nutrition label.

According to the United States Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the supplements were recalled because their packaging is not child-resistant. This flaw poses a severe poisoning hazard if accidentally ingested by young children.
NAFDAC has urged healthcare professionals and consumers to be vigilant and report any suspicion of the sale or distribution of these recalled products or any substandard or falsified medicines.
Reports can be made to the nearest NAFDAC office by calling 0800-162-3322 or via email at sf.alert@nafdac.gov.ng.
