Lawyer Inibehe Effiong Denied Access to Sowore at Former SARS Abattoir
Human rights lawyer Inibehe Effiong has revealed that he was denied access to activist and politician Omoyele Sowore at the former SARS detention facility located at Guzape, Abuja.

Effiong disclosed the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter), stating that officers at the facility refused to allow him to see Sowore without prior clearance from the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Police Command Headquarters.
“I have just been denied access to Omoyele Sowore at the former SARS Abattoir located at Guzape, Abuja. The officers on duty insisted that I get clearance from the FCT Police Command Headquarters before they could give me access to Sowore. I have left the facility,” Effiong wrote.
Sowore was arrested earlier today at the Federal High Court while attending the court case of Mazi Nnamdi Kanu. He had protested in solidarity for Kanu’s freedom on October 20, 2025.
During the protest on Monday, Prince Emmanuel Kanu, Barrister Aloy Ejimakor, and others were also arrested, while Sowore managed to flee the scene.
As of the time of filing this report, the police have not issued an official statement regarding the restriction or Sowore’s detention.
