Police Rescue Kidnapped Man Unhurt, Intensify Manhunt for Suspects
The Oyo State Police Command has successfully rescued a kidnapped victim in the Igbeti area of the state following a coordinated security operation.

The victim, identified as Alhaji Gede Yusuf, 30, of Old Oyo National Park, Dauda Village via Igbeti, was reportedly abducted and the incident was promptly reported at the Igbeti Divisional Police Headquarters.
According to the statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Ayanlade Olayinka, on March 4, 2026, the report triggered an immediate and intelligence-driven response. Security operatives, working in collaboration with other agencies and local stakeholders, launched sustained bush-combing operations across identified flashpoints in the area.
Under intense pressure from the joint security team, the kidnappers abandoned the victim, who was subsequently rescued unharmed. He was immediately taken to a medical facility for evaluation and has since been discharged in stable condition.
The Commissioner of Police, Femi Haruna, commended the gallantry of the operatives and praised the strong collaboration between security agencies and community stakeholders that led to the successful rescue.
He further directed the Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Squad to thoroughly debrief the victim as investigations continue, with a mandate to ensure that all those involved in the crime are tracked down, arrested, and prosecuted.
The Police Command reassured residents of its continued commitment to safeguarding lives and property, urging members of the public to provide timely and credible information to security agencies.
