Miss Janny Linda Ozochi has denied initiating a malicious campaign to damage Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro and his mother Mrs Oyidiya Okoro stating that the disputes arose from exchanges between two politically exposed individuals on social media.

On May 5, the former Deputy Chairman of Bende Local Government Area, Chief Promise Uzoma Okoro, filed a suit demanding N100 million in damages from Miss Janny, calling for the immediate withdrawal of the alleged defamatory statements, a written apology published in two national newspapers, a video apology to the mother, Mrs. Oyidiya Okoro, and the payment of N100 million as aggravated damages.

In response on Thursday, Miss Janny denied any liability and chose to refrain from further exchanges and also demanded a retraction of the derogatory statements made by one ‘Mathew Okorie’ and other associates.

Her full statement as seen by Newsleverage reads;

Since my name was publicly dragged with a ₦100 Million defamation suit narrative, it is only right that I also let people know that I have formally responded through my legal team.

My lawyers, Leftwing Solicitors, have replied accordingly.

This matter did not begin as a one sided attack as some people are trying to portray. It arose from an ongoing political disagreement, public exchanges, repeated provocations, personal attacks, and coordinated insults, many of which were directed at me personally, including attacks on my private life, my dignity as a woman, and my reputation.

I did not wake up one day and decide to attack anybody.

I reacted to sustained provocation, repeated public posts, and defamatory comments made not just by him, but also by people acting openly around him and under his platform.

When people go personal, drag your private life, insult your womanhood, and attempt to ridicule you publicly, reactions happen.

That does not make the story one-sided.

My legal team has made it clear that accountability must be mutual, and no one can throw stones publicly and then suddenly claim spotless innocence when responses come back.

Respect, boundaries, and maturity must apply to everyone, not only when it becomes convenient.

At this point, I have chosen maturity and due process.

I will not be engaging in unnecessary back and forth again.

I have gone back to my work, my peace, and the things that truly matter.

At the same time, it should also be clear that I will be taking my own legal steps regarding the repeated personal attacks, bullying, public humiliation, and defamatory statements made against me and my associates.

Cyberbullying is not selective.

Defamation is not one-sided.

Character assassination is not selective too.

Accountability must be complete.

So while others are trying to play victim publicly, the full facts and the full story will also be addressed where it truly matters, before the law.

Let the law speak.

Let the truth take its proper course.
