Following the hullabaloo about the purported defection from PDP to APC of the immediate past Transition Chairman of Ukwa West LGA Hon Chief Sylvanus Uzoma Nwaji in Igbere the country home of the former governor of Abia State and Chief Whip of the Senate Dr Orji Uzor Kalu, Obuzor Ward APC held a meeting on the 16th of January, 2021 to clarify to the public unattested farragos surrounding the news.
Speaking at the meeting, the Caretaker Committee Chairman of APC Obuzor Ward Comr Chinonso Kingsley Ebere stated that it is high time the party put a stop to the news making round the social media platforms that Hon Chief Sylvanus Uzoma Nwaji is now a member of APC Obuzor Ward.
He said without much prestissimo that a resolution will be passed to tell whoever is spreading such rumour the position of Hon Chief Sylvanus Uzoma Nwaji in APC Obuzor Ward. He, therefore, asked the floor to move a motion for the agreement to issue a communique. In that vein, Hon Barr Sam Ogbonna, the leader of APC Obuzor Ward moved a motion and was seconded by Chief Alhaji Usman Dandy.
And the communique reads as follows:
1. That the immediate past Transition Chairman of Ukwa West LGA Hon Chief Sylvanus Uzoma Nwaji is not a member of APC Obuzor Ward
2. That Obuzor Ward is not averse to his defection to APC any time he so desires.
3. That our hands are open to receive him when he desires to join APC from his Ward with the proviso that he would mend fences with those he offended in the grassroots through his leadership style and turn a new leaf.
4. That his press release as published on the social media platforms is immaterial hence the Obuzor Ward APC chairman and the executive including LGA executive who hails from Obuzor Ward are not aware of his defection to APC.
5. That Hon Chief Sylvanus Uzoma Nwaji just paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Whip of the Senate and leader of APC South-East and not the purported defection as being propagated by social media influencers because charity, as we ought to know, begins at home.
6. That he Nwaji would promise to adhere to the fullest the Chief Whip’s instruction of sweeping all the evils around him anytime he wants to join APC from Obuzor Ward.
8. That Chief Ogunka John is a very respected figure in Abia APC political atmospherics and we hereby pass a vote of confidence in his able representation as to the Deputy State Chairman Caretaker Committee. Therefore, his name should not be taunted in APC Obuzor Ward.
9. That the publication made by PDP Obuzor Ward which opined that one Mr John Daniel had defected to PDP with more than fifty(50) members of APC from Obuzor Ward is false and watery in content because Obuzor Ward APC has no member bearing such name in her record and no member of APC was sighted in the pictures posted on the social media platforms by the PDP e-rats.
10. That if such publication is meant to taunt the image of Nwaji because of his atrocious leadership style by those he offended, those persons should hold their breathe and iron out their fallouts with him instead of bringing the name and image of Obuzor Ward APC to public ridicule, odium and contempt.
11. Obuzor Ward PDP bringing the name of APC Obuzor Ward in their last concluded LGA tour will attract a media backlash if such thing recurs henceforth. Forewarned is forearmed!
