Man Returns to Nigeria After 23 Years Abroad, Claims Family Locked Him Up for Asking About His Properties

A Nigerian man, Bayo Salami, has shared a troubling experience upon returning to the country after spending 23 years living in Cape Town, South Africa.

Salami alleges that his family deceived him into visiting a traditional spiritual leader, only for him to be locked up in a room with other individuals living in appalling conditions.

Salami, who had come back to Nigeria seeking information about his properties, says his family initially told him that they were still under development.

Despite the delay, he accepted the situation and was preparing to return to South Africa. However, his family then suggested taking him for prayers, which he agreed to without suspicion, trusting his relatives.

“I’ve been in South Africa for a long time, and when I got back, I asked about my properties. They told me they were still being developed. I wasn’t worried about it and planned to leave again. But then, they said they wanted to take me somewhere for prayers, and I thought it was a normal family ritual,” Salami explained. “To my shock, once we arrived at the Alfa’s place, they suddenly pushed me into a room. Inside, I saw people who had been living there for over a year under terrible conditions.”

Salami has since accused his family of trapping him in this situation after his request for his properties, describing the experience as both distressing and disorienting. His story has raised serious concerns about the motives behind his family’s actions and their treatment of him upon his return.
