The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has launched a sweeping enforcement operation in Kano State, targeting the sale of expired, unregistered, and potentially harmful food and cosmetic products.

The three-day operation, carried out across Singer Market and several major supermarkets in Kano metropolis, followed a series of petitions from concerned citizens. It was led by NAFDAC’s Directors of Investigation & Enforcement and the North-West Zone.

During the raid, officials confiscated expired candies, beverages, and a range of unregistered products including imported items without English labelling estimated to be worth over ₦350 million. Unregistered food and cosmetic goods were also seized from prominent supermarket chains in the city.

NAFDAC has launched further investigations into individuals and businesses linked to the distribution of the illicit products. The agency is urging the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or unregulated products to the nearest NAFDAC office.

In a statement, the agency reiterated its commitment to safeguarding public health by ensuring that only safe and quality-assured products are available in Nigerian markets.
