2027: Hon. Ike Bishop Okoronkwo Mobilises Abia North Grassroots, Tasks ADC Coordinators on Polling Units

The Abia North Senatorial Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Hon. Ike Bishop Okoronkwo, popularly known as IBO, has charged Local Government Coordinators of his campaign organisation to return to the grassroots and obtain feedback on the opinions and concerns of the people ahead of the 2027 elections.

Okoronkwo gave the charge during a meeting with the coordinators held at his residence on Thursday, stressing the need for a strong grassroots structure across the Abia North Senatorial District.

He noted that there are more than 160 polling units across the district and said the target was to ensure that every ward has a dedicated coordinator who would work closely with people at the polling-unit level.

The ADC candidate said voters must be adequately informed about the available choices ahead of the election, urging the coordinators to engage the electorate and communicate the qualities and programmes of the candidates they represent.

“As a Local Government Coordinator, you have the responsibility of getting polling-unit coordinators. You cannot work on your own; you have to have people that you work with,” Okoronkwo said.

Speaking at the meeting, the Coordinator of the Voice of Senate, Chidozie Udensi, said the group was established to identify and support a candidate who would be accessible to the people, particularly the youths.

Udensi said the grassroots movement was aimed at ensuring that residents experience the dividends of democracy by supporting Okoronkwo, whom he described as accessible and accountable to the people.

He urged members of the group to engage those seeking information about the candidate and use such interactions to explain Okoronkwo’s qualities and political agenda.

“Anybody who invests their energy to ask about the candidate, IBO, it will be an opportunity to win them over and roll out the qualities of our candidate,” Udensi said.

Okoronkwo also assured the gathering that the people would work for the ADC’s presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, in the 2027 election.

The meeting was attended by the Ohafia Coordinator Eze, Coordinator in Bende Prince Okwara, Isuikwuato Coordinator Amos Igwe, Mazi Christian Luke, Chidozie Udensi and other members of the campaign structure.
