Enugu State Governor Dr Peter Mbah has officially inaugurated the Enugu State Human Capital Development Council, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to people-centred governance and eradicating poverty across the state.

The Council, chaired by Deputy Governor Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, is a multi-stakeholder body drawn from the House of Assembly, State Executive Council, Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Local Governments, traditional institutions, religious bodies, and civil society organizations.
Governor Mbah stated that the Council underscores the administration’s core belief that “the true wealth of any nation lies not in its natural resources, but in the quality of its people.” He emphasised that human capital development has been a top priority since the beginning of his administration.

“One of our three transformational goals is to eradicate poverty by reducing our poverty headcount index to zero,” the governor said. “That’s why over 50% of our 2024 and 2025 budgets have been committed to social services.”
The Council’s primary role is to track state investments in human capital, monitor progress, and ensure that initiatives are delivering real and measurable benefits to residents of Enugu State.
Governor Mbah highlighted ongoing projects aligned with this vision, including Green Smart Schools, Primary Healthcare Centres, infrastructure developments, Farm Estates, and modern transport terminals, all designed to improve the quality of life for Ndi Enugu.
“I truly appreciate the commitment of the Council members and the passion expressed by them,” he said. “The goal to build a system that delivers real, measurable value to Ndi Enugu continues, and we’re not resting on our oars.”
The inauguration marks a significant milestone in the administration’s broader agenda to foster sustainable development through inclusive, people-focused policies.
