Police in Kano State have successfully rescued a 19-year-old man, identified as Ibrahim Abubakar from Adamawa State, after he climbed an advertising billboard at the Ado Bayero Bridge, threatening to jump in an apparent suicide attempt.

According to eyewitnesses, the young man caused a stir early Tuesday morning when he ascended the towering billboard structure, drawing a large crowd of onlookers and halting traffic in the area.
Abubakar was reportedly demanding to meet popular TikTok personality Abdul BK, insisting he would not come down unless his request was granted.

The Kano State Police Command responded swiftly to the scene, deploying officers and crisis negotiators who engaged the distressed teenager for over an hour before eventually persuading him to come down safely.
Police spokesperson SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa confirmed the incident in a statement, saying, “At about 8:30 a.m. today, our officers were alerted to a suicide attempt at Ado Bayero Bridge. The individual involved was identified as Ibrahim Abubakar, 19 years old, from Adamawa State. He was threatening to take his life unless he met a TikToker known as Abdul BK. Fortunately, our team was able to de-escalate the situation and bring him down safely.”
Abubakar is currently in police custody and undergoing medical and psychological evaluation.
