Former Senate President Bukola Saraki has declared that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is now firmly positioned to participate in the 2027 general elections, following the successful conclusion of its 2026 National Convention.

Speaking after the national convention held in Abuja on Sunday, Saraki emphasised that the party had matched its rhetoric with decisive action, ensuring its continued relevance in Nigeria’s political landscape. He reiterated his earlier stance that under no circumstances would the PDP fade due to non-participation in national elections.

“We now have a party that can present a candidate in the 2027 election,” Saraki said, adding that the PDP has eliminated doubts about its ability to compete.

According to him, the party now offers a credible platform where aspirants can pursue their ambitions without fear of exclusion from the ballot.

Saraki also addressed critics, noting that uncertainty surrounding the party’s future has been resolved. He stressed that the PDP will not only be present on the ballot but will provide Nigerians with a viable alternative in the next general election cycle.
Looking ahead, the former Senate President called for unity and reconciliation within party ranks.

He urged members to strengthen internal processes and remain focused on building the cohesion necessary for electoral success.
He congratulated members of the newly elected National Executive Committee, as well as other leaders and stakeholders who assumed new roles during the convention. Saraki charged them with the responsibility of leading the PDP to victory in the 2027 elections across all levels.

“Their mandate is clear, they must go out and win. They must not fail in this task,” he said, expressing confidence that the party could exceed expectations in the coming elections.

While thanking party faithful, Saraki reaffirmed the commitment shown during challenging times, describing their loyalty as vital to the PDP’s renewed momentum.
