Over 500 L&B Foundation Members Dump LP and NDC for APC in Umuimenyi/Nkpa Ward
The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Umuimenyi/Nkpa Ward, Bende Local Government Area of Abia State, recorded a major political milestone as over 500 members of the L&B Foundation officially defected from the Labour Party (LP) and NDC to the APC during the Morning Tea with Widows organized by the Mazi Ekweronu Foundation.

The event, hosted by the Founder of the Mazi Ekweronu Foundation, Engr. Nnadozie Ekweronu, served not only as a humanitarian outreach but also as a Town Hall Meeting, where participants discussed the developmental strides of His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR, particularly across Bende Federal Constituency. The engagement provided an opportunity for residents to learn more about the Deputy Speaker’s people-oriented projects and initiatives, attracting a large number of community members, residents, and political stakeholders.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, the leadership of the L&B Foundation, led by its Founder, Canadian businessman Okechukwu Innocent Uchechukwu, alongside the Foundation’s Secretary, Mr. Okorie Prince Samuel, and Chairman, Mr. Best Samuel, said their decision to join the APC was inspired by the visible developmental strides of the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, PhD, CFR, across Bende Federal Constituency, particularly in Umuimenyi/Nkpa Ward.
According to the group, the numerous infrastructural projects and people-oriented programmes facilitated by Rt. Hon. Benjamin Kalu convinced them that the APC remains the platform driving meaningful development in the area.
They also commended Engr. Nnadozie Ekweronu for his dedication to the party and his consistent support for the Deputy Speaker, describing him as a grassroots mobilizer whose commitment to community development and the APC influenced their decision to join the party.
The defectors unanimously declared their full support for the All Progressives Congress and pledged to work tirelessly alongside Engr. Nnadozie Ekweronu to ensure the party records a resounding victory in the forthcoming elections.
The mass defection is being viewed as a significant political gain for the APC in Umuimenyi/Nkpa Ward, further strengthening the party’s grassroots structure and reflecting the growing confidence of residents in the leadership of Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu and the mobilization efforts of Engr. Nnadozie Ekweronu across Bende Federal Constituency.
