A man has been arrested and charged in the abduction and sexual assault of an 11-year-old girl while she was walking to school. The 11-year-old girl was walking to school alone on the morning of Tuesday, September 9 when a man approached her on Essex Road in Woodbridge. The attacker grabbed her and implied that he had a weapon.
A 34-year-old woman saw the girl being attacked and attempted to intervene and save the child, according to authorities. But the man forced his way into the woman’s home and assaulted her, leaving her injured, before fleeing with the girl to a secured area where he raped her before releasing her.
The man who allegedly abducted the child was arrested later, the county police said. The abduction prompted three schools in the area – Woodbridge Middle, Vaughn Elementary and Marumsco Hills Elementary, to implement additional security measures Tuesday.
