Taskforce Locks Up School with Children Inside Over Tax
A private school in Bashiri, Ado-Ekiti has been locked up by officers of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service over a tax the school failed to pay.

A private school in Bashiri, Ado-Ekiti has been locked up by officers of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service over a tax the school failed to pay.
This was made known by a parent who went to pick up her child but met the gate locked with the students inside the school on Thursday.
The parent lamented over emergencies that could result from the locking of the gate and called on the Ekiti State Government to do the right thing and call its taskforce to order.
Reacting to the news, the Ekiti State Government through it’s Commissioner of information Hon. Akin Omole, revealed that it was investigating the case but stated that it wasn’t true that school children were held inside the school.

The attention of the Government of Ekiti State has been drawn to a viral video alleging that enforcement officers of the Ekiti State Internal Revenue Service sealed off a private school, with children inside.
The circumstances surrounding this event are being investigated and a comprehensive statement will be issued once concluded. At this material time, the referenced school has been visited and the state government can confirm that it is untrue that children are being held.
Without prejudice to the outcome of the investigation which will be made public very soon, the government assures the public that it is totally unacceptable for children to be maltreated in any way in Ekiti State, and government would not condone such.
Governor Fayemi’s administration has been consistent in the fight against discrimination of any kind, and remains committed to ensuring schools are safe spaces for learning & moral instruction.
