Two suspects, 23-year-old Godspower Chukwuedo and 22-year-old Christopher Nwachukwu, have been arrested following the disappearance of Faith Omodan, a 200-level student of Delta State University, Agbor.
It was gathered that Faith went to the farm in Ewohon/Uwemen communities in Edo State with a Lifan CG 125 motorcycle and never returned was declared missing on account of her father Edward Omodon’s report to Abudu Division, Edo State on the 1st of April, 2024.
According to the Edo State Commissioner of Police CP Funsho Adegboye, mni in a press briefing on Wednesday while advising parents and guardians to monitor their children anywhere they go and the kinds of friends they keep stated that the suspects were arrested following a preliminary investigation and subsequent transfer to the State Criminal Investigation Department.
The suspects who were arrested in collaboration with the Vigilante group confessed ‘that they were sent by one native doctor Chukwuyem Jonah, 26 years old, a native doctor who lives in Iru community near Abudu, Edo State to go after Faith Omodon in the farm and kidnap her to enable them to collect ransom from her rich father with the promise of paying them #30,000.00.’
They further revealed that they were resisted by Faith Omodan and thereafter strangled her to death. The police, subsequently, stormed the Iru community at about 9 pm on the 7th of May 2024 and arrested Chukwuyem Jonah.
Meanwhile, investigation is still ongoing to recover the victim’s Corpse and arraign the suspects.
