Popular crossdresser Idris Okuneye, known as Bobrisky, has been exonerated by an investigation panel from claims that he slept outside prison during his incarceration.
The panel found no evidence to support claims that Bobrisky breached custodial protocols.
The inquiry set up by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, was prompted by a viral video from activist VeryDarkMan, who alleged that Bobrisky bribed officials of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to dismiss money laundering charges against him.
During a presentation of the phase one report at the Ministry of Interior on Monday, Uju Agomoh, the Executive Director of the Prisoners’ Rehabilitation and Welfare Action (PRAWA), revealed that Bobrisky was transferred from the Kuje Custodial Centre to the Medium Security Custodial Centre in Kirikiri-Apapa, Lagos. He was later moved to the Maximum Security Custodial Centre, where he was ultimately released after completing his sentence.
However, the panel noted that transferring Bobrisky to a maximum security facility as a first-time offender contravened Sections 164A and 164B of the Nigerian Correctional Service Act of 2019, which outlines the appropriate classification and handling of inmates.
Meanwhile, Social media personality VeryDarkMan, also alleged that crossdresser Bobrisky has been arrested by Nigerian immigration at the Seme border.
According to VDM, Bobrisky was arrested while attempting to evade a probe by the House of Representatives over a N15 million bribery allegation involving the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
However, there has been no official confirmation from the authorities regarding the alleged arrest.
