#OsunDecides2026: Delays, Disputes, Network Failure Disrupt Voting as Youths Target Vote Buyers

Youths in Osun State are proactively patrolling the state to seize any money found with party agents or individuals aimed at vote buying.

The youths voiced their frustration over delays and disruptions at some polling units during Saturday’s governorship election, while warning they will confiscate any money observed that is intended for vote buying.

At Polling Unit 11, Ward 009, voters were seen waiting patiently as the slow voting process caused delays.

One voter lamented the long wait, saying, “We’re sitting on the floor because we’ve been patiently waiting since morning and our legs are hurting. They’re just suffering us in this country. We’ll suffer to collect voters’ cards, and we’ll still suffer to vote.”

Meanwhile, at 10:05 a.m., disagreements also erupted among party agents at Post Office PU001, Ward 1, Obokun Local Government Area, where 951 voters are registered.

The dispute centred on who should assist elderly voters unable to read or write inside the voting booth.

An Accord Party agent insisted that his party’s representative should assist a voter who had already identified the party he intended to vote for.

This followed earlier disruptions caused by network unavailability, which reportedly forced election officials to change the position of some election materials and affected the voters’ queue.

A Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) official at the polling unit stated that security personnel were working to maintain order and ensure that voting proceeded peacefully.

Meanwhile, Governor Ademola Adeleke accused the Police of aiding APC agents to intimidate voters who were out to exercise their franchise.

“I’ve performed my Civic duty, and I’ve voted, but I heard the information that a police officer is here in Ede hiding, and his job is to destroy Ede.”
