Due to my unrelenting stand on issues concerning honors and what I observe as undeserving privileges that people now receive nowadays, it has made me turn down several deserving awards that some reputable organizations have offered to me base on my antecedents.
I decided to turn down those awards not that I do not merit it, but because each time I thumb through the lists of some of the awardees, I shake my head in discontent and disappointment.
What we now see today as recipients of awards are nothing but charlatans in their sycophantic nature. Those ones, having deemed themselves not fit to deserve honors normally go to an extent of lobbying by soliciting openly for either their name to be included or the name(s) of their cronies.
They do this, bearing in mind that what their reputation could not give them, their deep pockets would definitely do, forgetting that excellence is a habit according to Aristotle the great philosopher.
Many awards have been conferred on the undeserving individuals thereby throwing aside standard, quality, value as well as mediocrity in place of meritocracy.
But in all this, one organization which has kept value, standard, quality, integrity, and meritocracy working abundantly for her is no other but Abia Facts Newspaper. In fact, ever since this media outfit initiated this all-important event since 2017, it has turned to become the best, brightest and biggest ever, thereby setting a good measure of precedence and standard for others to follow.
In my view as today, Abia Facts Newspaper still ranks much high as an organization with content and conscience. Little wonder, during my encounter with the Publisher/CEO of this media giant, he quickly made me understand that the organization was built a rock-solid on the alter of core values which include Freedom of Press, Equity and Fairness, Integrity, Excellence, and Justice.
Since 2017, Abia Facts Newspaper has continued to seek for the best individuals who are worthy of this covetous award, good news came, when it was announced on that Year that the Business Mogul/philanthropist Chief (Dr.) David Ogba Onuoha Bourdex MFR., OON ”UGOENA NDI ABIRIBA” was Abia Facts Newspaper Personality of the Years for 2017, everyone rejoiced on the choice of this enigmatic individual who has contributed significantly over the years for humanity.
That of 2018 was conferred on Chief Dr. Daniel Chimezie Okeke and the same fanfare that greeted the 2017 edition was reciprocated on that Year.
Here comes Abia Facts Newspaper Awards Event 2019 and it promises to be scintillating, tantalizing and exciting. The Editorial Board of Abia Facts Newspaper as I learned will soon unveil her 2019 Personality of the Year and subsequently make it public.
In this Year’s event, there are different categories of awardees which ranges from Best Print Reporter of the Year, Radio Station of the Year, Radio Programm of the Year, Entrepreneur of the Year, Online Personality of the Year, Best Fast Food Restaurant of the Year, and many more.
All these are in line with the core objective of Abia Facts Newspaper to create a premium reward system aimed at recognizing and celebrating outstanding individuals and organizations that have significantly contributed to the human and socio-economic development of Abia State.
