At the project site of the new government house at Ogurube Layout, Umuahia, Governor Okezie Ikpeazu reiterated his resolve to complete the project before he leaves office in 2023.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Onyebuchi Ememanka, on Monday, Ikpeazu inspected the project site with the Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Chinedum Orji.
According to the Governor, it is important that Mr Speaker is part of the inspection to see what the Executive is doing with the funds appropriated by the Legislature for the project.
The Governor, while addressing Government House Reporters after the visit, expressed satisfaction that the contractor was now back on site, adding that the visit was to ensure that the job was going according to specifications. “I have come to see the quality of work and to ensure they are working in line with specifications”, he stated.
Presently, the contractor is doing electrical, plumbing and tilling works as plastering had been completed.
He encouraged the contractor to expedite work to achieve the plan of completing the project in good time.
When the Governor was asked to give a specific time for the completion of the project, he responded thus; “I will move into this place and use it before I leave office as Governor in 2023”.
The new Government House Complex Project was initiated and commenced by the administration of former Governor T. A. Orji.
