Three students of Community Secondary School, Ogbogoro in Obio Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State, all in (SS2) were crushed to death yesterday by a tipper carrying chippings at Rumukwasi, along Ozuoba Ogbogoro road.
A student by name of Godswill who spoke with our Correspondent expressed sadness that the deceased were his classmates and they played football together after school on Friday before leaving for their various houses.
An eye witness, Mr. Amachree, while explaining the cause of the accident said the tipper driver left his lane and ran into a tricycle carrying the students who were seven lapping each other due to a hike in the transportation fare from Ogbogoro to Ozuoba.
Others, Mr. Amadi and Mr. Fred explained what they observed at the accident scene.
They however noted that the bodies of the late students have been identified by their parents and have been deposited at the University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital, UPTH, mortuary, while the other students who sustained different degrees of injury were taken to UPTH unconscious.
As of the time of filing this report, the driver of the tipper is at large.
