Fuel Scarcity Looms as NARTO Restricts Lifting Petroleum Products
The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, has directed its members not to make their trucks available for petroleum product loading activities from Monday 19th February 2024.
The Nigerian Association of Road Transport Owners, NARTO, has directed its members not to make their trucks available for petroleum product loading activities from Monday 19th February 2024.

This was made known in a statement in an official statement issued by NARTO’s President, Yusuf Othman after several efforts made to negotiate for an appropriate and commensurate freight rate for operation from all authority concerned in the industry failed.

The statement made it clear that its decision stems from the high operational costs, particularly the expensive diesel needed to power their trucks for product transportation across the country.
It implored all its members all over the country to cooperate with the association as they cannot function within the existing context especially, the economic situation in the country.
Meanwhile, diesel prices reportedly range from N1,250 to N1,400 per liter.
