Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has commended members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), for their continuous contributions to nation-building.
Governor Fubara gave the commendation today during the swearing in ceremony of 2024 Batch B Stream II Corps Members at the NYSC permanent orientation camp, Nonwa-Gbam Tai local government area.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Bureau, Office of the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Hamilton Amadi, the Governor eulogized the Corps members for their patriotism and commitment in improving the lives of the rural dwellers through execution of community development projects.
He said, “I am happy that over the years, the scheme has continued to grow in leaps and bounds, impacting positively on every facet of the nation’s growth.
“I charge you to be exemplary, dedicated and committed in all you do, both here on camp and throughout the service year in order to repay Nigerians’ the faith and trust placed on you,”he added.
He requested the management of the NYSC Scheme to always think out of the box in order to strategically position the scheme and corps members into self-sustenance.
In his welcome address, the NYSC Rivers State Coordinator, Mr. George Mfongang urged the Corps members to use the opportunity to add value to their host communities.
He informed them that the country earnestly craves for peace and prosperity, adding that, they are in advantaged position to drive a life of purpose as agents of positive change.
The Oath of Allegiance was administered on the Corps Members by Hon. Justice Godwin Osaronu Ollor on behalf of the Chief Judge of the State.
