The Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC has called for a nationwide protest on the 4th of February 2025 following the hike in telecommunication tariffs.
While condemning the decision of the Nigeria Communication Commission to increase its tariffs, the NLC on Wednesday said the decision was insensitive, unjustifiable and a direct assault on workers who are already burdened by the worsening economic realities of the country.
In a statement signed by Comrade Joe Ajaero, the President of NLC, he encouraged all NLC affiliates and State council to begin mobilization of their people to a nationwide rally on Tuesday.

While demanding a call off of the 50% hike in tariffs, he urged the Federal Government, the NCC and the National Assembly to engage in meaningful dialogue to review the tariffs.
He warned that if these are not adhered to, the Congress will further escalate actions and protect the interest of the Nigerian populace, which may also include a boycott of Telecommunication services.
The statement also warned that the NLC will keep fighting against policies and programs that assault the welfare and dignity of the people. He urged the people to unite and fight against policies that prioritize profit against the well-being of the People.
