Natasha: INEC Must Verify Authenticity of Signatures – Sani

Shehu Sani, Human Rights Activist has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC must verify the authenticity of the signatures submitted for the recall of Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan.

Speaking on Tuesday after a delegation led by Mrs Charity Ijese, Kogi West and a lecturer at the Kogi State University on Monday submitted 240,000 signatures to INEC to commence the recall procedures of the Kogi Central District Senator, he noted that Constituents must volunteer to monitor the credibility and transparency of the verification process.

“Inec will have to verify the signatures collected and submitted for the recall of any elected lawmaker. If you are opposed to the recall of any lawmaker, you have to volunteer to monitor the credibility and transparency of the verification process, or you simply await the result.”

Viral videos on Monday showed people forging the signatures of Constituents allegedly from the INEC register to make up one-third of the Constitutional demands for recall processes of a lawmaker to be initiated.

Pictures of Charity Ijese who is also a member of the All Progressive Congress APC with the former Governor of Kogi State Yahaya Bello who has been at loggerheads with Senator Natasha before, during and after the 2023 election surfaced on the internet.
