Saraki Condemns Maiduguri Blasts, Calls It ‘Despicable Act of Cowardice’
Former Senate President Abubakar Saraki has condemned the twin explosions that struck Maiduguri on Monday evening, describing the incident as a “despicable act of cowardice” that must be denounced by all.

In a statement released following the attack, Saraki expressed outrage over the loss of more than 20 lives and injuries to over 100 people, noting that such violence “defies our shared humanity.”
He urged residents of Maiduguri and Nigerians at large to remain calm but highly vigilant, emphasising the importance of promptly reporting any suspicious individuals, movements, or objects to security authorities.
Saraki also called on Nigeria’s security agencies to intensify their operations to identify and apprehend those responsible for the attack. He stressed the need for decisive action to ensure justice is served and to prevent future incidents, adding that all necessary measures must be taken to strengthen national security.
Extending his condolences, Saraki sympathised with the victims, their families, the Borno State Government, and all those affected by the tragedy.
He prayed for strength for the bereaved families, a speedy recovery for the injured, and lasting peace across the nation.
Recall that there was a twin bomb at the Maiduguri Monday Market, the gate of the University of Maiduguri Teaching Hospital, and the Post Office Flyover in Maiduguri which left 23 dead and more than 100 seriously injured. The Police also stated that it was a coordinated suicide bombing targeting crowded areas across the capital city.
