Maiduguri Bomb Blast: Nigeria’s Struggle for Peace – Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo
By Otunba Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo (BOS)

The recent suspected suicide bombing in Maiduguri has once again plunged our nation into grief, fear, and deep reflection. It is painful that in this day and age, innocent Nigerians are still losing their lives to acts of terror that continue to threaten our unity, safety, and collective future.
Families have been torn apart, dreams have been shattered, and communities have been left in mourning. This tragedy is not just a northern problem, it is a Nigerian problem, one that demands urgent sincerity, responsibility, and decisive action from all stakeholders.
As a people, we must begin to ask ourselves hard questions. How long will this cycle of violence persist? How long will citizens continue to live in fear while those in positions of power offer repeated promises without visible, lasting solutions? The safety of lives and property is the primary responsibility of any government; yet, it appears that this fundamental duty is increasingly being neglected. The gap between leadership assurances and the reality on the ground is becoming too wide to ignore.
Equally disappointing is the role of some public figures, especially certain actors within the Nigerian entertainment industry, who once stood firmly against the emergence of the current administration under the All Progressives Congress but have now chosen to align themselves in support. This sudden shift raises concerns about integrity, consistency, and the true motivations behind their actions. Nigerians looked up to many of these individuals as voices of truth and accountability, yet today, their silence or worse, their endorsement amid hardship and insecurity feels like a betrayal of public trust.
This is not the Nigeria we all envisioned. This is not the country we struggled and hoped for a nation where every citizen, regardless of tribe, religion, or region, can live without fear and pursue their aspirations in peace. Instead, many are faced with daily uncertainty, economic hardship, and insecurity that continues to erode confidence in governance.
I, Babatunde Olushola Senbanjo (BOS), extend my deepest sympathies to the victims of this tragic incident and their families. Your pain is felt across the nation, and your loss is a reminder of the urgent need for change. May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may their families find strength in this difficult time.
Now more than ever, Nigerians must rise above division and demand accountability, transparency, and genuine leadership. Enough is enough. We cannot continue on this path of repeated tragedies and unfulfilled promises. The time has come for a renewed commitment to building a safer, fairer, and truly united Nigeria, one where the lives of citizens are valued above politics, and where leadership is defined by action, not words.
We hope for a better Nigeria. A Nigeria that works for all.
