Shocking! Newborn Baby Found Dead in IDP Camp
An unsettling case of suspected infanticide has gripped the Kuya Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Monguno, Borno State, after a newborn baby was discovered lifeless in a pit toilet.
An unsettling case of suspected infanticide has gripped the Kuya Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) Camp in Monguno, Borno State, after a newborn baby was discovered lifeless in a pit toilet.

The disturbing discovery was reported in the early hours of April 24, 2025, around 6:30 a.m., when the camp’s chairman, Faki Isa, alerted authorities to the scene.
Reliable sources confirm that the infant is believed to have been abandoned by an unidentified woman shortly after birth.

Officers from the Borno State Police Command promptly responded to the incident, dispatching a team of investigators to assess the situation.
The baby’s body was recovered and transported to the General Hospital Monguno, where a medical doctor confirmed the infant’s death.
Following medical assessment, the remains were handed over to the camp chairman for burial.
Although no suspects have been apprehended at this time, police say investigations are ongoing to identify and apprehend the person responsible.
